WebAG Automat Release 4.1.1 – What Is New?

Enhanced Formatting Options

Until now, it was a rather cumbersome procedure to add formatting or images to a blank line or the end of a paragraph. This is because such places could not be accessed by clicking on words. Under the new release, however, it is now possible to click on paragraph end markers and on blank lines for the positioning of formatting instruction. You can now format any passage of a paragraph, table or list with images, hyperlinks and custom-defined format tags.

Enhancement of the Form Engine

Form Drivers

The form drivers have been enhanced to include a number of new setting options, giving you greater control over the form display. This is a first step towards the integration of any type of form field into a web page.

Text and images are now editable for standard form elements, and alerts such as “Really delete?” can be turned off.

Using custom-defined trigger sets, it is also possible to customize standard form elements such as sub-form navigation and the sending and deleting of forms. This is done through reprogramming in PL/SQL.

Provision of Tools (Dynamic Automat Enhancement)

With this release, As a first dynamic Automat enhancement, we are delivering a tool for the importing and exporting of forms. The enhancement comes from the development environment. It allows the compression of all raw form details (form fields and drivers) into one XML file which can then be re-integrated into Automat as an import. This is a first step towards XML as an exchange format for Automat installations.

Upgrade to Release 4.1.1 – Installation Instructions

1. Log off users
To do so, we would recommend closing down the Apache Web Server for the duration of the installation.

2. Backup
Before conducting the upgrade, back up your Automat database and the Automat Web Server folders. During the migration of the Automat 4.0 data model to the new Automat 4.1.1 data model a number of new tables are created and others are deleted.

3. Install software
Double-click on the command file
upgrade.bat at the topmost level of the CD. This script starts the Oracle tool SQL *Plus 8.1. Answer the questions about the connect routine to your Automat scheme and about the Oracle RDBMS version you are using. This automatically starts the relevant SQL scripts. Next check the log files in the folder C:\Temp.

4. Update Automat Online Help
The Online Help files need to be replaced by the latest version in the
\doc folder on the installation CD. The URL of the virtual web server path to the Help files can be found in the global settings parameters “HELPFILE_…” Copy all the files from the CD folder \doc to this destination.
Example:
C:\> COPY  R:\doc\*.*  D:\InetOracle\html\help

5. Copy Automat images
Copy the images for WebAG Automat to your web server folder “\wt_img”. You can overwrite the existing files in this folder.
Example:
C:\> COPY   R:\automat\webserver\html\wt_img\*.*  D:\InetOracle\html\wt_img
